What’s new in 2021? Join me and my family in our journey to making this year a better one.

Hello beautiful people,

How are you all? What a year!

There are some changes unfolding here at the Mumpreneur Movement Magazine and wanted to keep you in the loop.

The first big one is we are going quarterly, we tried monthly and even though we have enjoyed sharing more women, we are taking Danielle Gardner’s approach and slowing it down so we can enjoy the content more, share the stories and contributors more, and have more space to connect with even more amazing women!

The next thing depending on COVID Restrictions – I am going on the road and I want to connect with more Mumpreneurs in person by interviewing one or 3 (at the same time). So if you are around any of these areas please fill out this form and let’s see what magic we can create.

SUNSHINE COAST – January
I will be around the Sunshine Coast as of the 23rd until the New Year and would love to connect with some Mumpreneurs who would like to share their story, wins, learnings, passion, purpose, challenges and so on.

TASMANIA – February
I am heading down to Tasmania in February for an adventure with my family.

LORNE VICTORIA – March
I am facilitating at a retreat for the Ultimate Girls Week Away 2021 – Victoria, Australia and will be around the area for a few days prior.

The next announcement will be in the next blog post. Send us an email our join our Facebook group for more exciting news!

Let’s welcome 2021 together!

Much love,

Going from a Hobby to Business

Going from a Hobby to Business

What we do in our spare time can say a lot about who we are as a person. Having a hobby or multiple hobbies is not only good for your health but it can also be beneficial for your social well being and in some cases it can also turn into a financial benefit for you as well.

There are a lot of hobbies out there that over time can become a financial gain for you. Whether you are making a product, using skills you have collected during your hobby to sell a service or simply turning your love of doing something into a financial gain – you are on your way to beginning a business.

So when do you go from a hobby to a business? How do you know it will be a good move?

How do you know it is will be successful and worth wild?

Where do I start?

This is the first step of turning your hobby into a business. First you need to determine if your hobby is something that is in demand and that will have a monetary benefit for you if you turn it into a business. Look at your hobby and see whether it is something that you would be able to make money off. Do you create a product that is sellable? Have you learned skills that you can sell within a service space.

After determining whether or not you can make money off your hobby, the next step is to decide if you want to.

How do I know if I should do it?

This is a question only you can answer. You need to decide if running a business is something that you really want to do. Whether you have the drive and strength to start a business and run it from the ground up. You then need to decide if you want to turn your hobby into that business. A hobby is something that we do for fun, to create a bit of down time for ourselves and give us a break from our every day lives. Will you still be happy doing your hobby if you are doing it for business over pleasure? It means that the drive behind your hobby will change. It will become a lot more professional and you will be creating the products or providing the services for business and not pleasure.

Is it a good idea?

This again is only a question you can answer. You need to do your research before jumping in and starting the business. Find out if there is a demand for what you are offering. Is there a market saturated with the same products or services already? Are you in a position where you will make money from the business.

Starting a business can also take a financial toll on you, so this is another factor you need to think about before turning your hobby into a business. Do you have the back up funds to purchase enough stock to start the business. Do you have a means of selling it and marketing it.

What are the benefits of starting from a hobby?

The benefits of starting your business from a hobby include the fact that you already know what you are doing for a large part. You may not know the ins and outs of running a business but you know how to create your product. You know how to make it look good and you know how much time and money goes into creating it. This is a great leg in to running a business. You are already familiar with the product and essentially just need to find a mean in which to sell it.

Starting your journey as a business owner from a hobby is a great way to start. It is something that you know how to create, something you enjoy creating and something that you think others would want a chance to be a part of. If you are unsure on whether or not to turn your hobby into a business, don’t rush into anything. Take your time to decide if it is a step that you would like to take and if it turns out it is – than go for it!
